YELLOWSTONE IN WINTER

Airport:   Bozeman, Montana

Winter in Yellowstone National Park is
something every nature photographer should
experience.  Between the wildlife and the
frosted scenery there is a non-stop show
going on all around.  We'll be picked up at the
airport in Bozeman, Montana, and for six days
and five nights we'll have a chance to enjoy that
show.  The first two days will be spent
photographing the Mammoth Hot Springs area
and the famed Lamar Valley.  This is probably
the most wildlife-rich region in the park, and
we should have many opportunities for bison,
elk, coyotes, bighorn sheep and pronghorn
antelope.  The Lamar Valley is also the best
place in the world to look for wolves in the wild.
Firehole River
Old Faithful The next two days will be be spent exploring
the Central Plateau by snowcoach.  The
waterfalls, cascades and incredible
thermal features create an otherworldly
landscape.  Here the cold temps and clouds
of steam combine to create a crystal fog.
We'll spend the night at the Snow Lodge in
Old Faithful Village, putting us right in the
middle of the most frosted scenery and wildlife.
Our final night we'll relax at the Chico Hot
Springs Lodge which boasts one of the finest
restaurants in all of Montana.
